Summer Summer Summertime

I don't know when the first day of summer is (eta: let me google that for you- June 20th), but it sure feels like it started last weekend. My last post was about snow and this one is about the heat. We have been spending as much time as possible in the water. We have visited the awesome pool in Lebanon a couple times and have been playing in the kiddie pools in the backyard at least once a day (I have been working on my tan in preparation of going to the waterpark in Alabama in 2 weeks).
Kira finished Kindergarten on May 24th. She received two awards at her end of the year program (one for her AR points and the Outstanding Character award from her class) and we are so proud of her. This is her only year at Wiseman because she was accepted into Merrol Hyde Magnet School- very bittersweet because we were very happy with everyone at Wiseman, but know attending MHMS is a great opportunity for her. Again, we are so stinking proud of our girl!
Jefferson has been sick since Friday night (mainly a fever and nasty cough), so we made a trip to the dr. this morning. Diagnosis: pneumonia. Poor guy! I hope he kicks it soon because he just looks so pitiful... and I would like to start getting sleep again.
I think we have been doing potty training bootcamp for Mason for a year. I'm not going to push him, but the kid knows what to do and is just being stubborn. Everyone says you don't see kids wearing diapers in college, so he will eventually get with the program. Notice I'm not saying you don't see kids in kindergarten in diapers because you just may see Mason Henry try to go to school in a diaper just to show us who's boss.
Levi has been working ridiculous hours so we have been missing him around here. Although I miss him, I admire how dedicated he is to doing his very best.
Hopefully this gets you up to date on what's been going on around here. Hopefully we will be super busy this summer trying to stay cool, but I'll try a little harder to blog some of our adventures!

SNOW

That pretty much sums up our January so far. Kira was out of school for Christmas break Dec. 21- Jan. 5. She returned to school Jan. 6 and 7, then was out the whole next week due to snow (and ice). She was out Jan. 17 for MLK day and went back to school last Tuesday. Snow returned Thursday, requiring school to be let out an hour early and, of course, school was canceled Friday. 5 days of school so far in January. We live in the northern part of the county, and on a ridge, so we always get more snow and ice than everyone else. We are the reason so many people can't believe why school is out another day- we will have a couple inches of snow in our yard, or an icy road, but when we go to the store just a few miles away, they have almost no snow.
So, what have we been doing with all of our free time, you ask? We did the play in the snow and have hot cocoa thing, but the kids started remembering just how cold they got and that they weren't big fans of being that cold, so we didn't do tons of playing in the snow. We made trips to Target and Walmart just to get out of the house. I've become accustomed to only having the boys with me while running errands- adding just one more kid really made a difference. The kids made forts, watched movies, played with Legos, and played video games. I tried to keep the house chaos to a minimum. So, needless to say, I'm very happy to have my girl back in school, to be back on our normal (yet always a little chaotic) schedule and to look out of my window and see most of the snow gone. I see the forecast is calling for more snow this week...
